Brits Put Chores Before Health as Flu Jab Campaign Launches
Brits Put Chores Before Health in Flu Jab Push

New research reveals that 94% of Brits admit to putting off taking care of themselves, with 35% more likely to tackle jobs at home than attend a health checkup they had been delaying. The survey, conducted by Asda, found that 23% would rather deep-clean the bathroom, while 17% would prefer cleaning the oven over addressing their own health needs.

However, the same research shows that people do prioritise their children's health, with almost two-thirds (62%) saying they would put their child's non-urgent health appointment ahead of their own.

Tony Bellew Teams Up with Asda Pharmacy

As the UK moves into flu season, former world champion boxer Tony Bellew has partnered with Asda Pharmacy for The Jab You Don't Want To Dodge campaign to encourage people to get vaccinated.

“Listen, I've spent most of my life trying not to get hit, so dodging jabs is something I know pretty well! But when it comes to your flu jab, that's one you shouldn't be dodging,” Bellew said.

“We're all guilty of putting things off, aren't we? You feel fine, you're busy, and you think you'll get round to it another day. My Auntie Jean actually works at an Asda Pharmacy in Liverpool, so being part of this campaign felt like a natural fit.”

Timing and Availability of Flu Jabs

It takes around two weeks to build immunity after a flu vaccination, so Brits are encouraged to book sooner rather than later, ideally before people start falling ill. Three in five (60%) said they were more likely to consider getting vaccinated if someone they knew had flu, but this might be too late for preventative action.

An Asda Pharmacy spokesperson said: “It's easy for preventative health to slip down the to-do list when life gets busy, especially when you feel fine. But our research shows that too many of us wait for a wake-up call before taking action.”

“We want to encourage people to get ahead of flu this winter, rather than waiting until it's already affecting those around them. Whether you're eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination or looking to book a private flu jab, Asda Pharmacy makes it quick and convenient to get protected.”

Flu vaccinations are available at more than 200 Asda Pharmacy locations nationwide, including evening and weekend appointments. Eligible customers can receive a free NHS flu jab, while private vaccinations are available for £17.47.
