Canadian singer-songwriter Brian Doerksen, best known for his hit "The Faithful One," has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The 61-year-old artist's family released a statement on July 18 revealing the diagnosis and explaining that doctors are still working to identify the specific type of cancer.
Family Statement Confirms Diagnosis
In a detailed statement, the family expressed gratitude for public support: "Thank you for praying and for spreading the word about Brian's condition. Your words of encouragement have been such a gift to our family and team." They added, "We have just been informed that Brian has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The doctors are still working to determine the specific type of cancer it is."
The medical team is proceeding with treatment and pain management while investigating the illness. Doerksen had been suffering from an unknown ailment for months prior to the diagnosis.
Financial Support and Public Response
To assist with medical expenses, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign. "We have decided to start a GoFundMe to help support Brian and his family with the financial burden of medical expenses during this season," the statement read.
