Bryan Johnson, the billionaire biohacker known for extreme longevity experiments, has revealed he has been diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis, an incurable chronic condition where the immune system attacks healthy stomach lining cells.
The 48-year-old venture capitalist, who has spent millions on therapies to reverse aging, posted on X: "Been thinking things over and wonder if I've taken this whole longevity thing too far."
Unusual treatments and costs
Johnson's quest for eternal life has included injecting his son's blood plasma, regular sperm health tests, and claims of eliminating 95% of microplastics from his semen through daily sauna sessions. His efforts have cost around $10 million (£7.5m).
He previously claimed to have the body of an 18-year-old and spoke about wanting to "conquer death." He also recently claimed to have made a "clone" of himself as a newborn baby for organ harvesting and therapy testing.
Microplastics reduction
Johnson revealed on X that microplastic concentration in his ejaculate dropped from 165 particles per millilitre in November 2024 to 20 particles per millilitre in July 2025. He attributed this to sauna therapy, which he said eliminated most environmental toxins.

Johnson's X post drew varied responses. One follower encouraged him: "I think you should continue doing what you've been doing! Every thing happens for reason! Your disorder isn't fatal so I think you should continue pushing the limits of Longevity experimentation!"
Another wrote: "Hang in there man. Don't lose hope. Someone had to take the initiative. Lets strive to live long and prosper!!" But some endorsed a more normal lifestyle, with one user simply saying: "just go have a beer and a smoke and chill out for a bit. It will be fine."
