BBC Radio Legend Eddie Nestor Steps Down After Cancer Diagnosis

Eddie Nestor, the 62-year-old actor and comedian known for his work on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio London, has announced he is stepping back from his broadcasting duties after being diagnosed with cancer. In a heartfelt social media post, Nestor revealed he had spent Father's Day in hospital and has since begun his first round of chemotherapy treatment.

Nestor's Announcement

Nestor shared the news on social media, describing it as a post he never imagined writing. He wrote: 'You may have noticed I’ve been quieter than usual. I’ve been diagnosed with cancer. The good news is that, thanks to an incredible medical team, I’ve now had my first chemotherapy treatment.' He did not specify the type of cancer but expressed hope and said he would be posting less to focus on recovery.

Previous Cancer Battle

In 2007, Nestor revealed he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, and documented his experience through blog posts. He was believed to have been in remission for several years. The current diagnosis is not confirmed to be a recurrence.
