Barry Manilow cancels Vegas shows after bronchitis diagnosis

Barry Manilow, 83, has cancelled his upcoming Las Vegas concerts after being diagnosed with bronchitis, just days after returning to the stage.

Walked off stage after two songs

The Mandy singer pulled the plug on his shows at the Westgate International Theatre after walking off stage just two songs into his set on Friday. He reportedly told the crowd: “Talk amongst yourselves” before leaving the stage.

According to Vital Vegas, Barry's band carried on playing before an announcement was made over the tannoy at the packed-out theatre, telling the audience that the show was over. Ticketholders said they later received refund emails from Ticketmaster before the concert was called off entirely.

Rep confirms bronchitis diagnosis

Revealing the health diagnosis, Barry's rep told Variety: "After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows."

The news has worried fans after Barry revealed in December last year that he had been diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. Doctors discovered the diagnosis while the singer was recovering from another bout of bronchitis before he subsequently underwent surgery to remove the tumour.

Health struggles and recovery

Barry was diagnosed with a stage-one cancerous tumour on his left lung in December 2025 and underwent successful surgery to remove it. The early-stage tumour was found via an MRI ordered after he suffered from prolonged bouts of bronchitis.

Part of his post-surgery recovery was a seven-day ICU stay during which he unknowingly had pneumonia. Barry explained: “It was seven days in ICU. It wasn’t so much the surgery that got me, it was the pneumonia that got me. I could have gone home after the surgery.”

He added: “They threw that tumour in the garbage and I could have gone home. It was the pneumonia that kept me in the hospital for a long time.”

Barry opened up about the toll the health crisis had taken on him, calling it a “rough ride” but insisted he was now on the mend and was “feeling great”. He said: “I’m feeling great, great. Everything is better. It was a rough ride.”

The star's health concerns have repeatedly delayed his Las Vegas residency, which was due to begin in February. At the end of August, Barry announced another break after performing in the UK during the summer, admitting “we were pushing a little too hard.” His team has not said whether upcoming dates - the residency is supposed to continue October 15 - will be affected.
