Pep Guardiola will not be at Anfield on Sunday for the clash between Liverpool and Manchester City, but he is planning a surprise return at City's next home fixture. The former manager has told club chiefs he wants to "be with his people."
Return at Champions League clash
Guardiola is expected to attend City's Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, October 14. The Spaniard is planning this visit as a show of solidarity after the club were found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges relating to breaches of the Premier League's financial rules.
Club found guilty of charges
An independent commission has found that the club arranged "sham contracts" and had been relying upon these to "inflate their revenues and reduce costs." Out of the 115 charges brought against them, City have been found guilty of 114.
Guardiola's support and appeal
The ex-City boss has come out in support of his former club and claimed he will "always be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff...and you." The club have also maintained their innocence and have lodged an appeal against the charges.
