Stevenson police officers made the grim discovery on December 19 after conducting a welfare check at Sandra Johnson's residence. The preliminary investigation indicates Johnson likely died of natural causes, with the subsequent consumption of her remains occurring post-mortem.

Animal behaviour experts suggest this tragic incident represents an extreme case of survival instinct in domestic pets. Five dogs were removed from the property, all appearing to be in healthy condition despite being left unattended for an unknown period.
Police Statement
Stevenson Police Chief John McDaniel confirmed: "There were no signs of foul play or forced entry. The evidence suggests Ms. Johnson passed away from natural causes, and the dogs resorted to their survival instincts in the absence of food."
