Tana Ramsay, wife of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, has spoken candidly about living with melasma, a long-term skin condition that causes brown or grey-brown patches on the face. The 51-year-old mother of six recalled an embarrassing moment at a pharmacy when a staff member asked about the 'stains' on her face.
In an interview with The Times, Tana said she would advise her youngest daughter Tilly to stay out of the sun. 'Gordon and I used to bake. Now I have melasma,' she said. Melasma is triggered by hormonal changes, genetics, and sun exposure, and is more common in women.
Tana revealed she never leaves the house without Klira The Dayscript SPF50 sunscreen. The condition can be managed with prescription creams, retinoids, or procedures like chemical peels and laser therapy, though these are usually not available on the NHS. Skin camouflage is another option.
Tilly, 24, described her mother as loyal to her skincare routine, saying 'it's impossible to get Mum to change anything.' Tilly has introduced her parents to newer beauty trends, including Rhode Peptide Eye Prep patches and Sarah Chapman sheet masks, which Gordon jokingly called 'scary white sheet masks.'
Tana also expressed interest in Victoria Beckham The Foundation Drops (£104), but insisted on waiting for them to be back in stock rather than asking her friend Victoria for a favour. Gordon and Tana have been married since 1996 and have six children: Megan, Holly, Jack, Tilly, Oscar, and Jesse James.
