Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that his weight loss medication Mounjaro is 'eating' his muscles, but admitted he is unwilling to do what is necessary to counteract this side effect. The former Top Gear host shared his thoughts in a recent column for The Times, where he discussed his use of the drug and the challenges it presents.
Clarkson wrote that 'science and painstaking research recently determined that Mounjaro is eating my muscles and that to counteract this I absolutely must do weights in the gym.' However, he confessed: 'So what am I going to do about that? Come off Mounjaro probably. I really can't abide being out of breath.'
The 65-year-old reportedly lost three stone in six months using the drug, but believes he has now 'plateaued'. Speaking to The Sun, he described Mounjaro as 'astonishing', adding: 'The shoes I was wearing last year are falling off me as I'm walking around. I think I might be the first person in the world to lose weight on my feet.'
Online pharmacy Chemist4U noted that weight lost on Mounjaro is not entirely fat, with research suggesting up to one-third is 'non-fat mass' or 'muscle and bone mass'. Clarkson also said he has not suffered from common side effects like constipation, though his girlfriend Lisa Hogan noted he has become 'slightly grumpier'. He added: 'I'm just a little bit duller and not quite as sharp.'
