Television personality and columnist Narinder Kaur has been urgently admitted to a specialist hospital in the UK, reportedly suffering from a suspected serious tropical infection.

Holiday Joy Turns to Health Crisis

The health scare emerged shortly after Kaur returned to the UK from a two-week family holiday. She had travelled to India with her husband and children, visiting her family's village in Amritsar, Punjab, as well as Delhi, and also spent time in the Maldives.

Throughout the trip, the Jeremy Vine panellist actively shared updates on social media, posting pictures from iconic locations like the Golden Temple and the Taj Mahal. However, upon her return home, she began to feel "seriously unwell".

Admission to Specialist Unit

According to reports, her condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to her being taken to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London. She is said to be experiencing severe symptoms including extreme chills, an intense flu-like illness, and chronic fatigue.

Medical professionals are conducting a battery of tests, with concerns she may have contracted a serious illness such as malaria or dengue fever. These infections, often transmitted by mosquito bites, can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.

A source close to the situation stated: "It all happened very quickly. Everyone saw what a great time she was having in India, then she started feeling seriously unwell as she returned to the UK and was advised to go straight to hospital. It’s been frightening, but she’s in expert hands."

Understanding Travel-Related Health Risks

The case highlights the health risks associated with international travel to tropical regions. Illnesses like malaria and dengue can take days or weeks to manifest after exposure.

Common infection risks for travellers include:

  • Mosquito bites
  • Consuming untreated water
  • Walking barefoot in certain areas

Kaur is now under close medical supervision at the UK's leading centre for tropical and infectious diseases, which specialises in treating returning travellers with complex symptoms. The results of her tests are currently awaited.

Narinder Kaur first found fame as a contestant on Big Brother in 2001. She has since built a career as a panellist on shows like Jeremy Vine, Good Morning Britain, and GB News, and is also a published author and columnist.
