Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has revealed that doctors have become "concerned" about how she is responding to chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. The actress, 52, who played Maxine Peacock on the soap from 1995 until 2003, announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with the disease.
Sixth chemo round in doubt
On Saturday, Shaw took to social media to tell fans she was hoping her sixth round of chemotherapy would take place in the coming days, but that whether it actually happens remains to be seen because of the side effects she has been suffering.
She said: "I have to be honest...it hasn't been easy but I've surrendered to what I always think I know about my body. There isn't anything that doesn't hurt, ache or isn't covered in these shingles and after having five months of it, I'm really sick and tired of it and so is my body."
Faith and gratitude
Despite everything, Shaw appears determined to keep a positive outlook. She added: "So there's no big comeback because the body isn't able to but I have faith that this too shall pass and on Monday, hopefully, I'll see the surgeon so there'll be a bit more of a plan because I can't plan anything til I know when that will be. I'll see the oncologist on Tuesday, chemo day is Wednesday. That's chemo six...if it happens, because they are concerned about the effects..."
Shaw, who also enjoyed a brief pop career with a cover of the Lonnie Gordon track Happenin' All Over Again and has starred in a string of theatre productions in recent years, thanked her fans and followers for their ongoing support.
She said: "So today I'm just grateful, I have got out today. Every day I do get out and I'm grateful for you, for everyone who has been on this journey before me, and for everyone's love and support. You lose so much and you lose so many people because no one knows what to do around cancer."
"As much as everyone wants to help, there aren't many that can. That's what I've learned. They say 'Can I do this?' and I say 'That would be lovely.' It's not that I have to rely on myself, I have to rely on God to get through this because the flesh is done. This wee body is done and every day I see something absolutely amazing in nature which gives me the faith because that's what is here for me to see."

Earlier this week, Shaw told her followers: "Phew round 4 hit hard! I’ve chose to show the moments of Joy I experience, hoping they bring light to those in the same position. Amidst this pain and suffering, I’ve had to dig deep into the constant spiritual growth , to creation and its wonders."
"Knowing what’s coming each cycle doesn’t make it easier, but I’m not panicking, definitely trusting the process , honestly it’s agony , but keeping it in the day. Praying a lot for others. Grateful to have met others to share this journey with, life sisters."
