A 26-year-old nurse from Wrexham is taking legal action against a trampoline park after fracturing her spine while jumping into a foam pit. Liza Jones sustained the injury on 1 February at Flip Out in Chester, using the 4m (13ft) high 'tower jump'. She underwent surgery to have metal plates and screws inserted in her back.
Ms Jones said: 'The pain is worse at night and I can hardly move in the mornings. I can't lean forwards or bend to pick things up and I can't lift things.' She described the injury as a 'massive ache' that has left her unable to work in her active nursing role.
The incident occurred on the same day that George Magraw also fractured his spine using the same jump. Cheshire West and Chester Council is investigating the park, which voluntarily closed the tower. Flip Out confirmed three incidents on that date and said the tower has been replaced with a new 'Battle Beam' attraction.
Michael Hardacre, the public liability lawyer representing Ms Jones, said: 'Liza says she followed the health and safety instructions on landing, but clearly this wasn't enough to prevent a serious injury, which could have been much worse.'
