Netflix's Lead Children: The Real Story of Jolanta Wadowska-Król

Netflix's upcoming series 'Lead Children' tells the true story of Dr Jolanta Wadowska-Król, a Polish paediatrician who fought to protect children from lead poisoning in the 1970s. The show highlights her efforts to expose industrial pollution in the city of Szopienice, where a lead smelter caused widespread health issues among local children.

Dr Wadowska-Król discovered dangerously high lead levels in children's blood, leading her to campaign for their relocation and treatment. Her work faced resistance from authorities, but she persisted, eventually helping over 4,000 children receive medical care.

The series is based on real events and aims to shed light on environmental health crises. It stars Polish actress Magdalena Cielecka as Dr Wadowska-Król, with production by Netflix Poland.
