Adam Thomas has detailed his mother Gail's harrowing hospital experience, revealing she was found screaming in agony before undergoing gallbladder surgery. The 37-year-old former Waterloo Road star shared the story on the latest episode of his podcast At Home with The Thomas Bros, which he hosts with brothers Scott and Ryan.
Mum's Sudden Collapse
On Wednesday, July 8, the I'm a Celebrity... star recalled the moment he discovered his mother in distress. He explained that after picking her up from a routine hospital visit, she stayed with him to recover, but her condition worsened. Scott Thomas then received a frantic call from their mother, who was "screaming 'Get round here now'." Scott arrived to find Gail on the floor, screaming in severe pain. She told him, "I've called an ambulance, I don't know what's going to happen. I think I'm dying." Paramedics initially suspected a stomach bug and calmed her down.
Gallstones Diagnosis
Despite the paramedics' assessment, Gail's pain persisted. Scott recounted, "The third day, she rang me again and said it had come back again, we called an ambulance again, and she was in so much pain." At the hospital, she was diagnosed with gallstones and required the removal of her gallbladder. Scott praised her resilience, calling her "an absolute soldier."
Adam's Own Struggles
Adam has also been candid about his mental health following his appearance on I'm a Celebrity... South Africa. He admitted on the podcast that the show left him feeling "so lonely" and triggered a need for therapy. He said, "I know for a fact that I'm not the same person that went into the Jungle. I'm in therapy, it f***ed with me mentally." He described putting others' feelings before his own until he reached a "breaking point."
