Westlife's Mark Feehily Forced to Miss Band's 25th Anniversary Tour Due to Major Health Crisis
Westlife's Mark Feehily misses tour due to health crisis

Westlife fans have been dealt disappointing news as band member Mark Feehily announces he'll be missing the group's highly anticipated 25th anniversary tour due to a serious health emergency that has left him hospitalised and recovering from major surgery.

Major Surgery Leads to Serious Complications

The 43-year-old singer took to social media to share the devastating update with supporters, revealing that what began as a routine surgical procedure escalated into a life-threatening situation. "I had surgery right before Christmas which started off as a small thing but unfortunately developed into a serious infection and other complications," Feehily explained.

The situation became so dire that the performer required not just one, but two separate operations to address the medical crisis that unfolded in the aftermath of his initial procedure.

Pneumonia Battle Adds to Health Woes

As if the surgical complications weren't challenging enough, Feehily contracted pneumonia during his recovery period, further delaying his healing process and making a return to the demanding schedule of touring impossible in the immediate future.

"My recovery has been difficult and slow, and I'm still in hospital," the singer shared, expressing his profound disappointment at being unable to join his bandmates for their milestone celebrations.

Emotional Toll on Band and Family

The Irish star didn't hold back about the emotional impact of his situation, describing himself as "devastated" to miss this significant chapter in Westlife's storied career. The timing couldn't be worse, with the band preparing to celebrate a quarter-century of musical success.

Feehily also highlighted the personal toll on his family, particularly his eight-year-old daughter Layla, who has been affected by her father's extended hospital stay and health struggles during what should have been a celebratory period.

Focus on Full Recovery

Despite the setback, the singer remains optimistic about his eventual return to the stage. "My focus is now on healing and getting better so I can get back to doing what I love most," Feehily stated, acknowledging that his health must take priority over performance commitments.

The remaining Westlife members - Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne - are expected to continue with the tour dates as planned, though fans will undoubtedly feel the absence of one quarter of the beloved vocal group.
