Lesley Maxwell, a 60-something personal trainer and world champion figure athlete, says the key to feeling sexy is simple: being strong and healthy. She shared this message on Instagram, where she has 144,000 followers, alongside a photo of herself in a leopard-skin bikini.
In the caption, she wrote: "When you feel strong and healthy you feel sexy. End of story xo." The post, shared earlier this week, drew admiring comments from fans, including "Oh wow you look absolutely stunning Lesley. Fire pic" and "Couldn't agree more you are the definition of sexy Lesley."
From late start to world champion
Maxwell, based in Melbourne, did not start lifting weights until age 48. Within a few years, she became a world champion figure athlete. She has since spent nearly two decades following a strict training schedule and nutrition plan.
Her recent posts show her dedication. In one, she demonstrated rollout push-ups, captioning it: "Rollout push-ups! I love the feel of them" and concluded: "Strength, control and stability in one!"
Training and diet approach
For a bodybuilding contest in April, her prep focused on lower body training in every workout. She incorporated her signature 'alternating' sets, pairing each lower body exercise with an upper body move. She kept cardio to a minimum until closer to the event.
Her diet was clean and nourishing, with enough protein and fats, mainly consisting of eggs, steak, and a piece of fruit daily.
Inspiring older women
On her YouTube channel, much of her work focuses on helping women over 40 rebuild strength, confidence, and a powerful body. She continues to show no signs of slowing down, proving age is just a number in fitness.
