Strictly Come Dancing professionals James and Ola Jordan have announced their separation after 26 years of marriage. In a joint statement, the former dancing duo confirmed they are taking time apart to work through personal challenges.
The statement revealed that James's mental health "hasn't been in a good place for quite some time." He said: "I've been struggling more than I've let people see and I'm taking the time I need to focus on getting myself into a healthier place, both for myself and for Ella."
James moved out of family home
James moved out of the family home some time ago, and the couple, who have daughter Ella, are reportedly living separately. The statement added: "Neither of us is in a good place right now. We're both doing our best to navigate one of the hardest chapters of our lives."
Reports suggest the dynamic between the couple shifted following the death of James's father, Allan Jordan, who passed away on March 13, 2021, aged 67, after battling a stage-four brain tumour.
Grief took its toll
A source told The Sun: "James was never the same again following the loss of his dad. It affected his life more than he or anyone ever expected and it really took its toll on their relationship." The source added: "He is still very much dealing with his grief."
James and Ola both joined Strictly in 2006. James left the show in 2013, and Ola departed two years later, having won the Glitterball Trophy in 2009 with Chris Hollins.
