In a raw and emotional revelation, Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall has spoken out about her ongoing struggles with eating disorders and the temptation to use the controversial weight-loss drug Ozempic.
The 30-year-old pop star admitted in a recent interview that she considered turning to the diabetes medication, which has gained popularity as an off-label weight-loss solution, during particularly difficult periods of her mental health journey.
A Lifelong Battle With Body Image
Thirlwall, who rose to fame with the chart-topping girl group, revealed she's battled eating disorders since childhood. "It's something I've struggled with since I was very young," she confessed. "The pressure to look a certain way in this industry can be overwhelming."
The Ozempic Temptation
The singer admitted the recent Ozempic trend among celebrities proved particularly triggering. "When you see people around you losing weight so quickly, it's hard not to compare yourself," Thirlwall explained. "There were moments I thought about trying it, but I knew that wasn't the solution for me."
Medical experts have warned against using Ozempic without proper supervision, noting potential serious side effects including pancreatitis, gall bladder disease and kidney problems.
Finding Healthier Coping Mechanisms
Instead of quick fixes, Thirlwall says she's focused on developing healthier relationships with food and her body through therapy and self-care practices. "Healing isn't linear," she shared. "Some days are better than others, but I'm learning to be kinder to myself."
The Geordie star hopes her honesty will help others facing similar struggles feel less alone. "If sharing my story helps even one person, it's worth it," she said.
