Tom Hardy has been reportedly fired from the Paramount+ crime drama series MobLand after allegedly enraging his co-star Dame Helen Mirren with his on-set behaviour. The actor, who plays fixer Harry Da Souza alongside Pierce Brosnan and Mirren, will not return for the upcoming third season following a number of clashes with producers, according to reports.
Behind-the-Scenes Tensions
Prior to news of his dismissal, sources revealed that Mirren, 80, who portrays Maeve Harrigan, was less than pleased with Hardy's attitude on set. An insider told The Mail on Sunday: 'She is getting increasingly frustrated with Tom and his attitude. He can be late to filming too and that is annoying for Dame Helen, who is extremely professional and disciplined. His tone is something Dame Helen doesn't like, along with his lateness.'
The source added that Hardy 'swaggers around like he's the king' and that the tension has become personal. Crew members have noted that Mirren no longer appears happy working on scenes with him.
Previous Conflicts
This is not the first time Hardy has faced friction with a co-star. During the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, he engaged in a screaming match with Charlize Theron over his lateness. Theron reportedly felt so threatened that she required a female producer present at all times. Hardy later admitted he was 'in over my head' and that Theron deserved a better partner in him.
Hardy's dismissal from MobLand was first reported by The Puck newsletter, citing clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser during the production of season two. The report claimed that producers could not continue to deal with his alleged behaviour.
Personal Transformation
Despite his recent troubles, Hardy's journey from addiction to sobriety is well-documented. He struggled with alcohol and crack cocaine from a young age, leading to arrests and a near-fatal collapse in 2003. After entering rehab with his parents' help, he turned his life around and became a BAFTA-winning actor, earning an Oscar nomination and a CBE.
Hardy's representative has been contacted for comment. The actor, who is married to Peaky Blinders actress Charlotte Riley, was previously reported to be taking a sabbatical after filming MobLand due to health issues.
