The Guardian has published corrections and clarifications for recent articles, including a misattributed quote about canned cocktails and inaccuracies regarding Orson Welles' filmography.
Cocktails Quote Correction
An article on canned cocktails, published on 25 June in G2 (page 4), attributed a quote about the difference between canned and bottled rum and coke to Jem Roberts of the Institute of Alcohol Studies. The quote actually came from David Inglis, professor of social sciences at the University of Helsinki. The article stated: 'They feel discreet and civilised.'
Orson Welles Filmography Inaccuracies
In a piece about film archives collaborating to complete a Don Quixote film started by Orson Welles (29 June, page 3), the Guardian incorrectly indicated that Welles directed 'The Third Man' and 'A Man for All Seasons.' In fact, Welles acted in both films but did not direct them.
Other Recent Amendments
Other recently amended articles include the Ukraine war briefing regarding Swedish defence maker Saab's deal to deliver 16 fighter jets to Kyiv, the US supreme court upholding a law to count mail-in ballots arriving after election day, and Wes Streeting calling for a partial social media ban for under-16s, comparing it to tobacco. Additional corrections cover the David Hencke obituary, a marine expedition uncovering 31 new species in two weeks, 1 July changes including minimum wage rises and payday super, a beginner's guide to cooking with beans, concerns about the Reform UK chair of Welsh environment committee, the fight to save a farming pioneer, and an investigation into whether US drug agents allowed lethal fentanyl to hit New Mexico's streets.
