Urgent UK Baby Sleep Bag Warning: Over 16,000 Products Recalled Over Suffocation Fears
Urgent UK Recall: 16,000 Baby Sleeping Bags Over Suffocation Risk

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued an urgent national recall for a specific baby sleeping bag, warning parents of a critical suffocation hazard posing a direct risk to infant safety.

The affected product is the 'Sleeptime' baby sleeping bag, sold both online and in various UK stores. The safety watchdog identified a severe design flaw: the bag's neck opening is excessively large, allowing a baby to slip down inside the bag. This creates a potentially lethal situation where the infant could become trapped and suffocate.

With an estimated 16,400 units sold across the country, the OPSS has mandated a full recall and instructed the responsible company, Bruchem Trading Ltd, to immediately cease all sales and contact every known purchaser directly.

What Should Parents Do?

If you own one of these 'Sleeptime' sleeping bags, you must stop using it immediately. The OPSS advises parents and caregivers to:

  • Cease use instantly and keep the product away from infants.
  • Contact Bruchem Trading Ltd for instructions on how to receive a full refund.
  • Ensure the product is stored safely out of reach of children until it can be disposed of or returned.

This recall underscores the critical importance of vigilance when purchasing baby products, especially online. Parents are urged to always check the OPSS website for the latest safety alerts and to only buy from reputable retailers that comply with stringent UK safety standards.
