ESPN broadcaster and former NFL star Pat McAfee, alongside his wife Samantha, have shared joyous news, revealing they are expecting their second child following a long and emotionally taxing fertility journey.
A Journey of Hope and Heartbreak
The couple, who have been married for five years, announced via an emotional social media post that a baby boy is due to arrive in June 2026. This pregnancy comes after a difficult path marked by multiple miscarriages and an extensive IVF journey. Samantha McAfee has previously spoken about suffering two miscarriages with life-threatening complications, which resulted in the loss of both her Fallopian tubes and meant the pair could not conceive naturally.
In a joint Instagram post, they described the road to this moment as being "filled with needles, hormones, countless appointments, and more emotion than we ever knew two hearts could hold." They credited science and their enduring hope for the impending "miracle."
A Message of Support to Others
Understanding the pain of infertility, Pat and Samantha included a heartfelt message to other couples still navigating similar struggles. "To every woman and couple still in the thick of this journey: you are not alone," they wrote. "I hope our news doesn’t cause you pain, but instead offers a spark of hope. Hope that your story isn’t over."
The couple's first child, daughter Mackenzie, was born in May 2023, two weeks early but in full health. She featured prominently in the family's latest pregnancy announcement. Following the reveal, the trio celebrated by attending an Indianapolis Colts NFL game, the team with which Pat McAfee played his entire professional career from 2009 to 2016.
Since retiring from football, McAfee has become one of sports media's most prominent figures, hosting a popular weekday talk show and appearing on ESPN's College GameDay.
