Singer Paloma Faith has shared a worrying health update, revealing she required hospital treatment for a severe case of flu while pregnant with her third child.
Hospital Dash for Breathing Support
The 44-year-old artist posted a picture of herself on Sunday wearing a nebuliser to help stabilise her breathing. She thanked staff at London's Homerton Hospital for the care, captioning a selfie in a black sweatshirt and cap: 'Thanks Homerton Hospital for nebulising me for flu.'
This health scare comes during what Paloma has openly described as a 'worrying' pregnancy due to her age. She announced in October that she was 18 weeks pregnant with her first child with her boyfriend of one year, Stevie Thomas.
Anxiety Over a 'Geriatric Pregnancy'
Alongside new snaps of her baby bump, the mother-of-two confessed to her feelings about expecting again in her mid-forties. 'Pregnancy at 44. Ngl that's a bit worrying but I'm trying to pretend to myself I'm calm so that eventually that comes true,' she wrote.
She added, 'I couldn't be more happy about another baby and I'm bracing myself for the storm...' The singer is already a mother to two daughters, born in December 2016 and February 2021, with her ex-partner Leyman Lahcine.
Despite the recent flu ordeal, Paloma has been determined to maintain her fitness. Just last week, she posted a workout video at 23 weeks pregnant, showing herself squatting and lifting weights in activewear. She credited personal trainers Rob Solly and Vicky Ziff for 'saving her'.
A History of Heartbreaking Fertility Struggles
This pregnancy follows years of difficult fertility journeys. Paloma has been transparent about conceiving both her previous children through IVF, enduring six rounds of treatment which included an ectopic pregnancy and a miscarriage.
The birth of her first child was particularly traumatic, involving a premature rupture of membranes at six months, 21 hours of labour, and an emergency C-section. She later suffered from post-partum psychosis due to severe sleep deprivation.
She also previously revealed she suffered a miscarriage on the set of 'Pennyworth' in 2019 but felt compelled to continue filming for fear of losing her job.
Now, as she prepares for her new arrival after another successful pregnancy, the star faces the dual challenge of a late-term pregnancy and a serious bout of flu, demonstrating her resilience amidst ongoing health concerns.
