Kate Middleton's Screen Time Rule Praised by Childcare Expert

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has received praise from childcare expert Jo Frost for her 'mindful' approach to limiting screen time for her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Frost, best known for the reality show Supernanny UK, described the royal couple's decision as 'informed, intentional, and deeply connected parenting'.

Speaking to HELLO! magazine, Frost rejected criticisms that the approach is 'old-fashioned', stating: 'Their approach to holding back on smartphones and limiting their children's screen exposure is not old-fashioned parenting — it is based on informed, intentional, and deeply connected, intuitive parenting.' She emphasised that the royals are 'choosing to lead rather than react and cave in' in a digitally saturated world.

Kate Middleton has previously written about the importance of emotional connection over digital convenience. In an essay last year, she noted: 'Our smartphones, tablets, and computers have become sources of constant distraction... We sit together in the same room while our minds are scattered across dozens of apps, notifications, and feeds.' The Princess has long championed the first five years of a child's life as crucial for developing social and emotional skills.

Experts support the benefits of limiting screen time, including better sleep, improved interaction with surroundings, and stronger family bonds. The royal couple's rule reflects a growing trend among modern parents in the UK, where smartphones and other devices are common in homes.
