Georgia Harrison Defends Baby Hack After Mum-Shaming Backlash
Georgia Harrison defends baby hack after mum-shaming

Former Love Island star Georgia Harrison has found herself at the centre of an online parenting debate after sharing a baby care tip that was quickly branded as dangerous. The 30-year-old, who welcomed her daughter, Sahara Jean Stacey, earlier this month, was forced to defend herself as a 'new mum' who is 'still learning'.

The Controversial Baby Hack

Georgia took to TikTok to demonstrate three baby hacks she had discovered. The one that sparked controversy was her second tip: using puppy training pads in various locations where her newborn spends time. In the video, she explained her method, stating, 'We have [puppy pads] everywhere. I put them underneath the sheet in the bassinet in case she does a wee so it doesn't ruin the mattress.' She also detailed having them on her changing table and in her baby bag for use on public changing mats.

Online Backlash and Health Warnings

The hack did not sit well with many viewers, who swiftly descended into the comments section to issue warnings. One user, claiming to be a district nurse, advised, 'Puppy pads contain chemicals which can damage skin. Better getting pads designed for children. As a district nurse we always advise against using puppy pads.' Another commenter highlighted a potential toxicity, suggesting the pads contain substances to encourage dogs to relieve themselves there. A third simply recommended switching to hypoallergenic baby-specific pads to avoid skin irritation.

Further criticism came from a user with experience in care, who urged Georgia to 'read the ingredients list in puppy pads', noting they are not good for human skin and can become abrasive when moist, recommending human incontinence sheets instead.

A New Mum's Gracious Response

Facing the wave of mum-shaming, Georgia Harrison responded with grace and humility. She addressed the concerns directly in the comments, writing, 'Guys it's all good I'm a new mum so I'm still learning too. I don't claim to be an expert and I can take advice well.' She confirmed she would act on the feedback, adding, 'I'll grab the baby ones from Lidl later for contact use - I was suggested these one by someone else.'

The arrival of baby Sahara has been a joyful time for Georgia and her boyfriend, Jack Spacey, whom she met on a dating app. The couple, who announced the pregnancy in April after keeping it private initially, were flooded with congratulations from friends and fans, including fellow Love Islanders Gemma Collins and Molly Smith, when they shared the first snaps from the birth.
