Farmer Wants A Wife Stars Jess and Andrew Expecting First Child After IVF Journey
Farmer Wants A Wife Stars Expecting First Child

Reality television favourites Jess Nathan and Andrew Guthrie from Farmer Wants A Wife have shared joyous news with their followers - they're expecting their first child together.

Heartwarming Instagram Announcement

The couple took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal their pregnancy with two intimate black-and-white photographs that showed Andrew gently cradling Jess's growing baby bump. In one particularly tender shot, Jess wrapped her arms around her husband's neck as he held their "precious cargo".

"We're so grateful to share that our little miracle is on the way," the couple captioned their auspicious post, demonstrating sensitivity towards others by adding: "Holding close in our hearts anyone still waiting, hoping, and navigating their own journey."

The announcement was met with an immediate outpouring of congratulations from friends, former castmates, and devoted followers. Fellow FWAW alum Sarah Carey expressed her excitement with: "Awww congratulations guys. So incredibly happy for you."

2008 castmate Tara Hurl responded emotionally: "OMG I'm in tears right now, I'm so happy for you both and I hope you're feeling well! Congratulations xoxox." Another fan captured the general sentiment by writing: "Awwww congratulations to you both, this is such amazing news!!"

Overcoming Fertility Challenges

This happy news comes just four months after the couple revealed they were beginning their IVF journey, speaking openly about their hopes for starting a family. In an August interview with Woman's Day, Jess had expressed her strong desire for children, admitting: "I really want a million children."

She elaborated further: "I want, like, 11 babies, so I'm like, 'If we're doing IVF, at least there's more chance of having twins.' But no, I'm super confident that our miracle baby will come when the time is right."

Jess has been transparent about her health journey since being diagnosed with stage-four endometriosis in 2016. As an ambassador for Endometriosis Australia, she has used her platform to raise awareness about the condition and its impact on fertility.

She told Woman's Day that she had long understood her path to motherhood might present challenges: "I knew that would mean my fertility journey may not be so straightforward like it is for some others. So I'm not surprised that I have issues with fertility now."

"I guess it's good to have always known that and mentally been prepared that this could be something that we might have to deal with," she added with characteristic resilience.

Geographical and Health Hurdles

The couple faced additional practical challenges due to their remote location. Their sheep and cattle farm in Delegate, in far southern NSW, required a four-hour round trip to reach their doctor's office, adding another layer of complexity to their fertility treatment.

Jess has been remarkably open about her endometriosis battle over the years. In 2021, she shared a candid Instagram post showing herself posing in her underwear while wearing a period cramp device, just five days after her third operation for stage-four endometriosis.

"Still swollen and sore, but 100 per cent on the mend!" she wrote in the caption at the time. "Chronic illnesses can feel isolating and deflating, and my heart goes out big time to anyone suffering with an illness."

In that same post, she shared hopeful news from her doctors: "I am so stoked to have come out of surgery and be told I won't have issues conceiving." She described feeling "grossly emotional", which she attributed to hormones, but expressed her deepest hope: "But being able to have a baby naturally – of course nothing's guaranteed, but fingers crossed – is my dream and I'm just so happy about it."

Jess and Andrew found love on the 2021 season of Farmer Wants A Wife and, after three years together following their reality show pairing, officially tied the knot. Their journey from television romance to marriage and now impending parenthood has captured the hearts of viewers who have followed their story from the beginning.
