Singer Christina Perri has shared a profoundly personal and heartbreaking update with her fans, revealing she has suffered her fourth pregnancy loss.
The 'Jar of Hearts' artist posted a poignant black-and-white photograph on Instagram, showing her hand intertwined with her husband Paul Costabile's, resting on her stomach. In a raw and emotional caption, the 37-year-old conveyed the depth of her family's grief.
'We are shockingly sad, completely heartbroken and simultaneously grateful for the angel baby we got to love for a brief time inside my belly,' she wrote.
This devastating news comes just over three years after the traumatic stillbirth of the couple's daughter, Rosie, in November 2020. Christina and Paul are also parents to daughter Carmella, 5, and son Pixie, 21 months.
Perri bravely detailed the immense difficulty of navigating such a profound loss while caring for her young family. 'Telling Carmella and Pixie was heartbreaking,' she shared, adding that the experience has been 'the most challenging few days we’ve had in a long time.'
In her characteristically open manner, the musician expressed a complex mix of emotions, stating she was 'sad, mad, crying, screaming, praying, silent, empty, full, grateful and so angry all at once.'
She concluded her post with a message of resilience for others who have walked a similar path: 'We only had a brief time together but I loved him/her with all my heart and soul for every second.'
Christina Perri has been widely praised for her courage in speaking so openly about her experiences with pregnancy loss, helping to break the silence and stigma that often surrounds this type of grief.
