British teacher fights for life in Dubai after pregnancy loss

A British-born teacher from Manchester is fighting for her life in a Dubai hospital, with medical costs now exceeding £100,000 following a heartbreaking pregnancy loss.

Zoey Campbell-Lowndes, a teacher from Manchester, was 30 weeks into her pregnancy when she and her partner Kevin received the devastating news that their baby boy had died in Dubai. Following a Caesarean section to deliver their son, Zoey's relatives report her condition has worsened 'significantly', leaving her in a 'critical' state at a hospital in the Middle Eastern nation.

Critical Condition and Intensive Care

After the Caesarean procedure to deliver the infant, Zoey's family say her health has declined 'significantly' and she now remains in a 'critical' condition at the Dubai medical facility. The family explained that Zoey's birth plan insurance fails to cover her treatment, as the policy protects the baby but excludes maternal medical emergencies.

Over 1,500 generous donors have now contributed nearly £80,000 towards Zoey's mounting medical expenses, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"She has spent three days in intensive care and is currently in an induced coma as doctors work tirelessly to treat her," a fundraiser read. "Her liver and kidneys are failing, and she has suffered two episodes of internal bleeding. She has required blood transfusions and dialysis, and her condition remains extremely serious."

Financial Strain on the Family

With treatment taking place in Dubai, the operations and continuous care have placed an 'overwhelming' financial strain on the family as Zoey receives the 'desperately needed' medical attention, with expenses already exceeding £100,000.

"We never imagined finding ourselves in this position," they said. "Our family is grieving the loss of a precious little boy while desperately hoping and praying that Zoey will pull through."

"Having to worry about the cost of medical treatment on top of such an unimaginable loss is something no family should ever have to face."

"We never imagined we would have to ask for help like this, but right now, we are holding on to hope for Zoey. We want to give her every possible chance to recover and come home to the people who love her."
