Khagendra Thapa Magar, the world's shortest mobile man as verified by Guinness World Records, has died in a Nepalese hospital at the age of 27. He measured 67.08cm (2ft 2.41in) and passed away following a battle with pneumonia.
Mr Magar, from Nepal's Baglung district, was first recognised as the world's smallest man on his 18th birthday in 2010. At the ceremony, he said: 'I don't consider myself to be a small man. I'm a big man.' He later lost and regained the title after the death of fellow Nepalese Chandra Bahadur Dangi in 2015.
Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday paid tribute, saying Mr Magar's 'bright smile was so infectious that he melted the hearts of anyone who met him.' The organisation noted that he 'didn't let his small size stop him from getting the most out of life.'
After gaining recognition, Mr Magar travelled the world, making television appearances in Europe and the US, and became an official face of Nepal's tourism campaign. He was first discovered by a travelling salesman at age 14 and exhibited at local fairs.
The record for the shortest living mobile man is now held by Edward Hernandez of Colombia, who measures 70.21cm.
