Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien Hilariously Defends Sarah Platt in Character
Tina O'Brien Defends Sarah Platt In Character

Last week, Sarah Platt was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Theo Silverton, months after the builder's lifeless body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum, Lisa Swain's, wedding to Carla Connor.

It was revealed last month that it wasn't any of the previously named murder suspects as it was Sarah who appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off the scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground - before she called on her former flame, Gary Windass, for help.

Sarah's Arrest and Confession

As Todd Grimshaw struggled in the aftermath of his abusive husband's murder, Sarah ended up confessing the truth to Todd, while her partner, DC Kit Green, remained determined to pin Theo's murder on Gary, not realising that he had been covering for Sarah. That was until she confessed all to her copper beau, just as he was trying to pop the question.

Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo and while, at first, she pleaded her innocence, the evidence was stacked against her and DS Lisa Connor-Swain said she had no choice but to charge Sarah with Theo's murder.

During Friday's (July 24) edition of Corrie, Maria Windass paid Sarah a visit after Gary confessed that he helped Sarah cover up Theo's killing. While angry at her and her husband, she wanted Sarah to promise that she wouldn't drop Gary in it.

Later, Sarah faced further questioning from Lisa, who asked Sarah about Maria's visit. She claimed she just wanted to see how she was, having known each other since they were teenagers. However, when Lisa revealed that they had gone through her phone records from the night of the murder, Sarah confessed to killing Theo in self-defence.

While it was clear that Lisa suspected Gary had helped with the cover-up, Sarah refused to involve him any further, much to Kit's dismay, by insisting that her call to him that night was about something completely unrelated. Later, Sarah told Kit to do the same when it came to keeping Gary out of it, and it was then that she also admitted the truth about Jodie Ramsey attacking her, which also happened on the night of Theo's death.

Tina O'Brien Responds In Character

Following those scenes, a clip was shared on Instagram, to which a fan replied: "Sarah, you did actually call gary to move Theo's body after you killed him." But, when someone mentioned Sarah was a 'fictional character' that wouldn't respond, Tina stepped in.

She wrote: "No here I am. I’m coming clean. I did it. But I didn’t ask Gary to move Theo’s body. I just asked him to help me because I didn’t know what to do. I was scared and confused and I didn’t want to call Kit because of the conflict of him being a police officer. I should have called the police straight away but I wasn’t thinking straight.

"Anyway, I have to go now, I’m borrowing a burner phone from a lady called Maggie, and she said if I’m caught, she’ll give me a black eye. Please send my love to my kids and tell them I’m so sorry and I really didn’t mean to kill him I was just scared up on the scaffold. Ok gotta go maggie isn’t happy with me BYE."
