A gentle-natured dog, rescued from a life on the streets, has now spent an entire year waiting in kennels for a loving home in the United Kingdom. Despite being described as a "loving" companion, no one has yet stepped forward to give her the chance she desperately needs.
A Year of Waiting for a Fresh Start
Ljubica, a five-year-old crossbreed, has been under the care of the animal welfare charity Miracle's Mission for more than 365 days. Before her rescue, she was surviving on the streets of Bosnia and even gave birth to a litter of puppies under a bush. While all of her puppies were successfully adopted, their mother has been consistently overlooked by potential adopters.
The charity is now urgently seeking a permanent home for her in the UK, where she hopes to leave her difficult past behind. A statement from her rescuers paints a picture of a delightful and intelligent character: "Ljubica loves all people, she always jumps to welcome everyone and loves to cuddle. She is very smart and is a very fast learner."
The Perfect Companion: Traits and Needs
Rescuers detail that Ljubica has good leash experience and has lived harmoniously within a pack of dogs. She is noted as a natural, non-aggressive leader who manages other dogs well and welcomes newcomers peacefully. If she encounters a dog that is more assertive, she simply chooses to avoid conflict.
Her ideal home would include a large, securely enclosed garden where this energetic dog can run and play for hours. She is reported to adapt well to both urban and country environments. A big food lover, she nevertheless displays good behaviour around meals.
While she gets on well with children, due to her size and playful nature, her rescuer recommends a home with no children under the age of eight. She has not been tested around cats.
The Mission to Find Ljubica a Family
Miracle's Mission, founded in 2015, is an organisation dedicated to helping sick, injured, and disabled animals across the globe. Their mission involves providing safety, promoting neutering to control stray populations, and rehabilitating and rehoming dogs from their UK base.
The charity operates as a satellite rescue, meaning it does not have its own operational kennels in the UK, making finding forever homes for dogs like Ljubica even more critical. Supporters commenting on her rehoming posts online have described her as a "gorgeous girl" and a "sweetheart," expressing hope she finds a family soon.
Anyone interested in offering Ljubica, or any other animal in the charity's care, a new home is encouraged to visit the official Miracle's Mission website at miraclesmission.org for more information.
