EastEnders' Lacey Turner 'to join Strictly Come Dancing' years after turning show down
EastEnders' Lacey Turner 'to join Strictly Come Dancing'

EastEnders legend Lacey Turner is reportedly set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, despite having turned the BBC series down in the past. The soap star, best known for her role as Stacey Slater, is currently on an extended break from the show to focus on her young family.

New Chapter for Lacey Turner

The 38-year-old actress, who welcomed her third child with husband Matt Kay last year, is thought to have signed up for the dance competition during her time away from Albert Square. She has previously been linked to the show but declined the opportunity. An insider revealed: "Strictly bosses are delighted to snap Lacey up for the series, especially as she has such a huge fan base from her time on the soap. She's down to earth and viewers will be excited to get to know her personality away from Albert Square."

Past Refusal and Change of Heart

In 2017, Lacey told OK! Magazine: "I have been asked to go on Strictly but I'm rubbish at dancing and I don't really have the guts. I'd do it if it wasn't on telly – I just don't like being on TV!" However, she later hinted at a possible change of heart, saying: "Maybe one day I'll grow a pair and put the shoes on." Now, it seems she has decided to take the plunge.

Strictly Come Dancing 2026

The upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing is due to kick off in September and will mark the first season for new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe. The trio were announced as the new presenters earlier this month after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman confirmed they would be stepping back. Lacey would join a long list of EastEnders stars who have competed on the show, including Kellie Bright, Jake Wood, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Balvinder Sopal, and Maisie Smith.

Lacey's EastEnders Legacy

Lacey made her EastEnders debut as Stacey in 2004 and quickly became a fan favourite. She took a break from the show last year, with viewers eager for her return. The Mirror has contacted reps for the BBC and Lacey Turner for a comment. If confirmed, fans can look forward to seeing a new side of the beloved actress when she takes to the dance floor.
