Amy Schumer Reveals Botched Colonoscopy Affected Her Sex Life
Amy Schumer: Botched Colonoscopy Hit Sex Life

Amy Schumer revealed on Sunday that a medical procedure has temporarily dampened her desire for intimacy. The 44-year-old, who is currently separated from her husband of eight years, Chris Fischer, made the disclosure during an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.

'I actually had, kind of, a botched colonoscopy, so I'm not feeling very sexual,' she shared. A colonoscopy is a preventive procedure where a doctor uses a long, flexible tube with a camera to examine the rectum and large intestine, typically used for detecting colorectal cancer. Despite the mishap, Schumer emphasized that her spirits remain high: 'I feel happier than I've ever been before.'

The Trainwreck actress announced her split from Fischer, a 45-year-old chef, in December. The couple share a six-year-old son named Gene. In her announcement, Schumer wrote: 'Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.'

The I Feel Pretty star humorously dismissed rumors that her dramatic weight loss or Fischer's status as a 'hot James beard award-winning chef' were factors in their breakup. She concluded: 'Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.'

Schumer and Fischer were first linked in November 2017 after a candlelit dinner in New York City. They went Instagram official in February 2018 and married days later in an intimate Malibu ceremony attended by about 80 guests, including Jennifer Aniston and Larry David. Schumer shared photos from the event on Instagram with the simple caption: 'Yup.'

In October 2018, Schumer announced her pregnancy via journalist Jessica Yellin, and her son Gene was born on May 5, 2019. Last year, Schumer lost over 30 pounds using Mounjaro, a diabetes medication. She previously tried Wegovy but experienced side effects. She also uses estrogen and progesterone for perimenopause symptoms, noting improvements in her hair, skin, energy, and libido.
