Police Probe Huntsman Over Horse Attack Footage

Police are investigating an incident in Rutland where a horse rider collided with a hunt saboteur while jumping over a gate. The incident occurred on 11 February in a field off Station Road, Whissendine, and was captured on film by the saboteurs.

Hertfordshire Hunt Saboteurs claim that huntsman Sam Jones deliberately rode his horse into a woman who was standing behind a locked gate. They allege that despite warnings to go around, Jones recklessly jumped the gate, knocking the woman to the ground. The woman did not suffer serious injuries.

However, the Cottesmore Hunt disputes this account, stating that Jones assessed the situation, verbally warned the saboteurs to keep clear, and then proceeded to jump. The hunt claims that the woman deliberately moved into the horse's path, potentially endangering herself, the horse, and the rider.
