Eoin Fagan, from County Donegal, Ireland, said he spotted two huge objects moving through Loch Ness on a live webcam on July 9. He contacted the Daily Star after reviewing footage that he says shows the targets at 3.29pm.
Fagan described the targets as "the size of a small cabin cruiser, that can range in size from 23 feet to 33 feet in length." He also photographed a cabin cruiser later that day in the same area of the loch, saying the objects were "easily the size" of it.
How the objects submerged
In the video clip, the more northerly object submerges first, followed by the object behind it 15 seconds later. "They gradually submerge, not just gone in a blink of an eye, but gradually," he said.
Fagan noted the weather was cloudy but dry, with a north-westerly wind creating a slightly choppy surface. He insisted the targets were far too big for ordinary wildlife, pointing out that seals in the loch grow up to eight feet long.
Sightings on the rise
"It is mind boggling to think there are creatures the length of a cabin cruiser swimming in the peaty depths of Loch Ness, evading detection for so long," he added.
Interest in the Loch Ness Monster is surging, with total reported encounters for the year rapidly climbing. One recent report came from nine-year-old Australian tourist Crystal, who spotted what she believed to be "the head of a creature in the water" at 11.30am on July 23 while travelling on the bottom deck of a Loch Ness cruise boat with her family.
Biggest search in history
The sightings come as eager Nessie hunters prepare to flock to the Scottish Highlands in September for the biggest coordinated search in history. Hundreds of monster enthusiasts are expected to gather as autumn begins, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive beast.
Dedicated volunteers plan to pitch camp at key vantage points all around the famous loch to keep a watchful eye on the water. Rob Long, from Loch Ness Exploration, said: "Nessie is there, we all know it, and we don't want to scare or put her in fear, but it would be great to subtly be able to get some answers into the legend."
