Brits heading to Tenerife could face fines of up to €3,000 under strict new beach rules introduced by La Laguna City Council. The regulations, approved on October 7, ban smoking, excessive noise, camping and overnight stays on beaches, and also prohibit the use of speakers or similar audio devices — except during emergencies or officially sanctioned events.
What the New Rules Cover
The use of soap, shampoo and comparable toiletry products in public showers has also been outlawed across all beaches and natural pools along the municipality's coastline.
Broader Environmental Drive
The crackdown forms part of a wider drive, as Tenerife plans to invest €80m towards achieving "zero waste" across the island.
Two of Tenerife's beaches were also handed black flags in the Banderas Negras 2025 report — with Playa Jardin under investigation for wastewater discharges and El Puertito de Adeje flagged for inadequate management.
