Around 70 firefighters are tackling a wildfire at Dunwich Heath, a National Trust nature reserve in Suffolk, with a major incident declared.

Suffolk County Council confirmed that 14 fire engines, along with specialist equipment including Unimogs, drones and 4x4 quad bikes, have been deployed to the scene. The blaze is described as a 'forest fire' by officials.
Public safety advice
The public has been advised to avoid the area, keep roads clear for emergency services, and ensure windows and doors are closed if smoke is present nearby. The heath is located about 30 miles north-east of Ipswich.
An official statement said: 'A Major Incident has been declared due to the size of the fire. Fire crews are working in coordination with multiple emergency services to ensure the public are kept safe.' The statement added: 'Once again, members of the public are advised to avoid the area to allow our teams to carry out their essential work.'
