US President Donald Trump has issued a new threat to destroy Iran's bridges as tensions escalate once again. The warning came after the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that the US had launched a missile strike on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

Residents reportedly heard a loud explosion after what the outlet described as an American missile struck the island at 2.48pm local time. Tasnim said authorities were investigating the scale of the attack, the exact point of impact and the extent of any damage.
Trump's Warning on Truth Social
In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned the US would "bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT" if Iran attacks any ship in the Strait of Hormuz with missiles, rockets, drones or any other weapon. He added that the targets could include infrastructure "located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran."

Larak Island sits in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping routes and a key gateway for global oil supplies. Around a fifth of the world's oil passes through the narrow waterway, making it a major flashpoint amid escalating US-Iran tensions.

Iranian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact impact site, assess the extent of the damage and examine the circumstances surrounding the reported strike. Tasnim said no official information had yet been released about the type of missile used, where it was launched from or the scale of the damage.
