President Donald Trump admitted that the United States had been secretly extracting millions of barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, bypassing Iran's blockade. The revelation came after Iran discovered the operation, prompting Trump to disclose the covert activity.
Trump's Announcement
Speaking to reporters, Trump said: 'I'm just announcing today for the first time, but we've been taking out millions of barrels, because they just figured it out, so now that they figured it out, I can tell you it was very hard for me. I wanted to say it so badly I didn't want to ruin it, but it was very hard. But millions of barrels of oil has come out.'
The President added: 'We're going to hit them again hard today,' hours after US Central Command struck Iranian military sites.
Military Action
Shortly after Trump's remarks, the US military fired on an oil tanker attempting to transport oil from Iran, violating the blockage on Iranian ports. US Central Command announced that this was the eighth merchant vessel disabled in the waters off Iran.
