Toronto releases limited edition condoms for World Cup fans

Toronto Public Health has introduced a series of limited-edition condoms for the 2026 World Cup, aiming to promote safe sex among the influx of football fans. The city, which will host six matches, is distributing six distinctively designed condoms free of charge at sexual health clinics.

Designs and slogans

The condoms feature playful slogans such as "Block those shots", "What a finish", "Ohhh, Canada", and "Strings attached". One wrapper depicts a peach in goal alongside an aubergine holding two footballs in a suggestive pose. The designs are part of the CondomTO initiative, which began in 2014 with a custom wrapper for World Pride.

Promoting sexual health

A spokesperson for Toronto Public Health stated: "With hundreds of thousands of visitors expected, we are distributing free condoms and safer sex supplies. Whether attending a match or a festival, condoms protect you and your partner(s)." Studies show that consistent condom use reduces the risk of sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancy.

The initiative follows previous campaigns, including Toronto-themed wrappers in 2017 and condoms for the Pan Am Games in 2015. The move comes as sex workers in the US anticipate a boom in business from the World Cup, with some expecting to earn over £10,000 per day.
