Scots teen dies in Benidorm after using suspected dodgy vape oils

A Scottish teenager has died in Benidorm, with his father blaming counterfeit vape oils for the tragic incident. Harry Whitton, 18, from Dundee, was on holiday with his girlfriend Karina Sandeman when he suddenly fell ill earlier this week.

Father's Warning

Harry's father, Colin, revealed that preliminary post-mortem results indicated his son's throat had constricted, leading to breathing difficulties. He also vomited, aspirating fluid into his lungs. Colin believes the reaction was triggered by a vape oil Harry purchased locally. "We received the preliminary post mortem results for Harry today and would like to share some info to warn everyone about the dangers of vaping," he said. "Harry took a reaction to something. We think it was his vape - he had recently bought a vape oil in Benidorm and it is the only difference between what he has been using."

Family Tribute

Harry's mother, Debbie, expressed her devastation: "Our hearts are shattered and our world has been turned upside down. Our boy has passed away while living his best life on holiday with the love of his life, Karina." She added that instead of planning his surprise 18th birthday, they are now arranging a funeral. His girlfriend Karina said, "I can't even begin to put into words how heartbroken I am... You really were the cheekiest, most happiest boy I've ever met."

Fundraising and Tributes

The family has set up a fundraising page to bring Harry's body back to Scotland, raising over £37,000 in one day. Dundee FC, a club Harry supported, paid tribute: "We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Harry Whitton... Harry was a familiar and friendly face within our hospitality lounges at Dens Park."

Harry's father urges others to be aware of the risks associated with vaping, noting the lack of long-term studies on vape oils. The incident has sparked renewed concerns about the safety of such products, especially those purchased abroad.
