Actor Megan Prescott has teamed up with filmmaker Adam McKay to launch Headline Newds, a web series featuring OnlyFans models delivering climate change messages in provocative, bite-sized videos. The series, released through McKay's non-profit Yellow Dot Studios, aims to capture attention by blending environmental education with risqué content.
The debut episode, titled 'The Sun is Daddy,' shows Prescott slowly removing her clothes while explaining that solar energy could meet global demands with less land than fossil fuels. Future episodes include 'Spank Banks,' where dominatrix Eva Oh names banks funding fossil fuel projects while paddling a man in a pig mask, and another featuring model Sabrina Jade discussing the oil industry's attempts to downplay its environmental impact.
The series draws inspiration from a scene in McKay's film 'The Big Short,' where Margot Robbie explained mortgage-backed securities from a bubble bath. Prescott and co-creators Bree Essrig and Jessica Riches hope to reach audiences on platforms like OnlyFans, where viewers may not expect climate messaging. The videos are also available on YouTube and Instagram, though the creators anticipate removals due to content policies.
Critics note that the first episode covers familiar ground about solar power, but later episodes offer more educational value. The series is currently in its first run, with more episodes expected throughout the month.
