The Met Office has revealed the exact date temperatures are expected to rocket above 30C in the UK. Temperature records have been broken already this summer and it looks like Brits hoping for cooler weather may have to wait a little longer.
Rain expected in north, but south stays warm
While cloud and rain may be on the way for parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England and north Wales, the south and east of England will have no respite, predictions suggest. Forecasters say any unsettled weather in these English regions will not last long, with 30C temperatures expected on Tuesday, July 28.
Met Office chief meteorologist comment
Met Office chief meteorologist, Dan Suri, said: "After a prolonged spell of hot, dry and settled weather, some will see a temporary change this weekend as weather fronts move south-east across the UK. While some areas, particularly in the north and west, will see rain and showers, many places are likely to receive relatively little rainfall."
"For much of southern England, dry conditions are expected to remain the dominant feature, with temperatures recovering quickly next week and the potential for very warm or locally hot weather to return."
Outlook for late July and early August
Southern areas are expected to remain settled and very warm throughout the end of this month and the beginning of August. Early August could bring more unsettled conditions but the forecaster describes this data as "very uncertain".
As of July 24, heatwave conditions persist only in isolated areas of the UK, with both Exeter Airport and Usk having recorded 19 consecutive days above their respective heatwave thresholds.
