The Met Office has issued a new rare extreme heat warning covering 31 areas across the United Kingdom. The alert comes as hot and humid weather continues to affect parts of the country, with temperatures expected to rise significantly.

The amber warning for extreme heat is in place from 12:00 on Monday, June 29 to 18:00 on Thursday, July 2. The Met Office warns that the hot weather could lead to health risks for vulnerable people, travel disruption, and increased demand for water and energy.
According to the Met Office, temperatures could reach 30°C in some areas, with the highest temperatures expected in southern and central England.

The 31 areas covered by the warning include: London, East of England, South East England, South West England, West Midlands, East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber, North West England, North East England, Wales, and Scotland. Specific local authorities within these regions are also on alert.
“Hot and humid conditions will continue to affect parts of the UK, with temperatures rising into the low 30s Celsius in some places,” a Met Office spokesperson said.
Health and Travel Advice
The Met Office advises people to stay cool, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid the sun during the hottest part of the day. Vulnerable groups, including the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions, are urged to take extra care.
Travel disruptions are possible, with potential for delays on roads and railways due to heat-related issues. The public is advised to check travel updates before setting out.
