Foo Fighters are set to perform at Anfield Stadium on Thursday, June 25, as an amber weather warning for extreme heat comes into effect in Liverpool. Temperatures are forecast to reach 38°C, with the Met Office warning of "hot and humid weather" and "exceptionally warm temperatures" both day and night. The warning is in place from midnight on Wednesday, June 24 until 11.59pm on Thursday, June 25.
Stadium Preparations for the Heat
In response to the extreme temperatures, Liverpool FC has advised fans on how to prepare for the concert. Free tap water will be available throughout the stadium to ensure attendees stay hydrated. Fans are allowed to bring a sealed 500ml bottle of water into the venue, and additional free water will be available at bars and kiosks inside Anfield. Refreshments can also be purchased inside and outside the stadium.
Sunscreen will be provided at stations inside Anfield, although fans cannot bring their own sunscreen into the stadium. Attendees are advised to apply sunscreen before arriving and to avoid arriving before doors open, as there is limited shade near the stadium.
NHS Guidance for Staying Cool
The ECHO has also reminded fans to follow NHS England's guidance on staying comfortable in hot weather. Key recommendations include:
- Keep out of the heat if possible. If you must go outside, stay in the shade between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat, and light clothes, and avoid strenuous activity.
- Check the temperature of rooms, especially for those at higher risk, and check on vulnerable individuals.
- Contact the environmental health office at your local council if a hot home is affecting health.
- Keep living spaces cool by closing windows, curtains, and blinds during the day, and opening them at night when temperatures drop. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35°C.
- Cool down with cold food and regular cold drinks, avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and hot drinks. Take cool showers or apply cool water to skin.
Additional Information
The Foo Fighters will also perform a second show at Anfield on Saturday, June 27. For more details on parking, setlist, and support acts, fans are advised to check official sources. The Met Office has urged everyone to take precautions during the extreme heat.
