Climate Change Film Screening at Ayr Town Hall on June 17
Climate Change Film Screening at Ayr Town Hall

A film that highlights the scale of climate change across the UK is set to be screened at Ayr Town Hall next week. The People's Emergency Briefing on the Climate and Nature Crisis will take place at the venue, located at 21-29 Bridge Street, Ayr, on Wednesday, June 17, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

This screening is part of a nationwide initiative and is being organized by Ayr resident Roy Trivedy, who also serves as the Honorary Consul of Timor-Leste in Scotland, in partnership with South Ayrshire Council.

Roy explained: "The goal is to enhance public awareness regarding the nature and magnitude of the climate and nature threats confronting the UK and to highlight why these issues are important to people's lives and livelihoods."

The film runs for approximately 50 minutes and will be followed by a facilitated public discussion lasting around 45 minutes. The event is scheduled to conclude at 8:30 PM.

"This event is designed as a community discussion rather than a political platform. There is no obligation to speak, though attendees are welcome to participate in the discussion after the screening," Roy added.

The screening follows another environmental initiative, the Ayrshire Schools Climate Footprint Challenge, which is taking place across the region on Friday.

Roy noted: "The People's Emergency Briefing film on the 17th will follow the Schools challenge. The film is open to the public, and people can simply walk in."

Organizers anticipate a strong turnout, with Members of Parliament, Members of the Scottish Parliament, councilors, and representatives from groups associated with the Ayrshire Climate Hub expected to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
