Veteran broadcaster Carole Malone launched into a fierce migration row live on air, skewering her Channel 5 co-panellist with a provocative question. The heated exchange occurred during Jeremy Vine's daily lunchtime show on Wednesday, June 10, as the panel discussed the escalating conflict in Belfast following an attempted stabbing murder.
Belfast Conflict Sparks Migration Debate
The discussion turned to migration amid ongoing violence in Northern Ireland. On Monday, June 8, chaos erupted after an attempted stabbing murder of Stephen Ogilvie, leaving him with the loss of one eye. Since then, houses, vehicles, and businesses have been set alight, fireworks thrown at homes, and flares targeted at properties, forcing frightened residents, including children, to evacuate.
Jeremy Vine welcomed 71-year-old broadcaster Radzi Chinyanganya to the show to share his thoughts on the conflict. The veteran presenter then launched into a fierce rant about the rise in immigration-related conflict in the UK, directly criticizing Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
Malone's Furious Rant
Malone fumed: "We have a Prime Minister who, when this happened yesterday, made yet another one of his speeches saying, 'I have no kind of tolerance for this sickening kind of violence'. Well, yes, he has got tolerance for it because he and his government are the ones who are allowing this." She added: "Starmer and his mate [Lord Richard] Hermer have decided that the atrocities that these immigrants commit are worth the price of his dream of multiculturalism, that is Labour's dream, isn't it?"
Jeremy interrupted to ask: "Doesn't he want to stop it, but he can't?", which Malone immediately shut down, arguing: "No, he can stop it. He can leave the ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights), he can deport all foreign criminals and immigrants, but we don't do that. We make excuses for them, just like Radzi's doing right now. He's making excuses for them."
Radzi's Response
Radzi interjected with his own experience as the son of an immigrant, highlighting the positive impact his family has had in the UK. He explained: "I mean, Carole, when you say the dream of multiculturalism, my father came from another country, your husband came from another country. We are the products of dreams of multiculturalism."
It was at this point that Malone interjected with: "Did your father ever try and behead anyone?", leaving the presenter completely taken aback. He simply replied: "What a mental thing to say." Malone defended her point, insisting: "No, it's not a mental thing to say. My husband and your father, they are members of this society and they contribute to this country. These people do not."
Radzi insisted: "There are evil people in every community, in every demographic," shortly before Vine cut the conversation short for an advert break.
Viewer Reactions
It didn't take long for viewers to flock to social media to share their thoughts on the tense on-air debate. One user fumed: "Carole Malone just tore into Radzi Chinyanganya in a fiery clash over immigration and multiculturalism! Carole wasn't backing down. Absolute fireworks on the panel! Wild stuff!" Another agreed: "The criminals should be deported, and it would send a message to the rest of the illegal immigrants to think twice before committing a crime. Labour doesn't do this, and that's exactly why crimes are getting more barbaric and out of control. Well done, Carole, I completely agreed with you."
A third echoed: "The small boats crisis shows why the UK's immigration policy needs a total overhaul. Treating border security with reactive fixes isn't working." Meanwhile, a fourth countered with: "Radzi is right, there is evil in every community! So why should we just keep accepting everyone else's evil into our communities? Haven't we got enough to deal with?"
