New research has named the Welsh town of Barmouth as one of the UK's top seaside destinations, standing out as the only location where every single pub and café is independently owned.
The study, conducted by Simply Sea Views, ranked 50 seaside locations based on how much of their high street comprises locally owned shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. Drawing on more than 20,000 individual businesses across the UK, each destination received a score out of 100.
Falmouth claimed the top spot, ahead of St Ives and Whitby, while Barmouth secured a place in the top 10, coming in at sixth with an overall score of 79.1.
