VisitScotland has unveiled a selection of five beer gardens across Scotland where the scenery rivals the quality of the beverages. The tourism board highlighted establishments from Pitlochry in Perth and Kinross to the remote Applecross peninsula, ensuring visitors can enjoy a drink surrounded by stunning landscapes.
Castle Tavern, Inverness
Dating back to the 19th century, the Castle Tavern is a family-run pub in Inverness. Its terraced beer garden offers panoramic views of the River Ness and Inverness Castle. Alongside real ales and malt whiskies, the upstairs restaurant serves traditional Scottish dishes like Cullen skink and haddock and chips.
The Old Mill Inn, Pitlochry
This family-run inn features a seasonal beer tent where guests can dine al fresco. The menu includes steaks and wood-fired pizzas, with decking seating that overlooks the nearby mill wheel. VisitScotland praised its "alfresco dining" and "scenic and tranquil surroundings."
Ben Nevis Inn, Fort William
Located at the base of Ben Nevis, this 200-year-old inn boasts a beer garden accessed via bifold doors. Visitors can relax on benches while taking in the beauty of the Scottish Highlands. The tourism board highlighted its "fantastic food, great ales, and spectacular views."
The Applecross Inn, Applecross
On the remote Applecross peninsula, this inn offers a summer beer garden with "stunning sea views" and local seafood dishes. It is praised for its picturesque setting and delicious offerings.
The Clachaig Inn, Glencoe
Surrounded by mountains, including the Aonach Dubh peak, the Clachaig Inn provides breathtaking views from its beer garden. The historic inn offers a range of cask ales, local beers, and whiskies.
