Princess Anne is set to embark on a significant overseas tour next month, visiting both South Korea and Thailand. The Princess Royal, often recognized as the hardest-working member of the Royal Family, will travel alongside her husband, Sir Tim Laurence.
Itinerary and Engagements
The tour begins in the Republic of Korea from Monday, July 13, to Wednesday, July 15, followed by a visit to the Kingdom of Thailand from Thursday, July 16, to Friday, July 17. In South Korea, Princess Anne will attend events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imjin River, honoring British soldiers who fought in the Korean War. Her schedule also highlights UK-Korea partnerships in industry, education, and innovation, including maritime manufacturing, advanced technologies, and research.
In Thailand, the itinerary includes a visit to a school in Bangkok supported by Save the Children, an audience with the Thai Prime Minister and the King and Queen, meetings with Thai female scientists, a regional health security showcase, and a UK-Thailand cultural collaboration event.
Historical Context
Princess Anne previously visited South Korea in 2018 for the Winter Olympics, while Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip traveled there in 1999. King Charles hosted a state visit for the Korean President in 2023, with earlier visits in 2013 and 2004. Anne has visited Thailand three times before: in 1979, 1987, and 1972 with her parents.
Busy Year for Anne
In 2025, Princess Anne completed ten overseas trips, starting with South Africa in January, followed by France and Greece in March, Turkey in April, Barbados in May, and later Belgium, Ireland, Ukraine, Australia, and Singapore. The announcement comes shortly after her son Peter Phillips married NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in a ceremony attended by senior royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, the King and Queen, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
